Festival Style

Are you dreaming of a festival wedding and you are not sure how to create the look.  This is where we can help.  We have lots of quirky and unusual props to hire or buy to create your look.  The festival style is very much about the outdoors.  Many couples are steering away from the standard venues and are opting for having their celebrations in fields or farms nestled in the countryside.

Hay bales are a great way to create this look.  If you go for an outside ceremony, why not use hay bales as your seating!  Then in the evening move them around to create seating areas and even create some hay bale sofa's, you could even include some rustic tables.

If you do opt for an outside ceremony, an arch creates a focal point for your ceremony.  Decorate it flowers to to match your theme. The aisle could be lined with either outdoor lanterns.  If you wish to use flowers or add height use rustic jars on shepherd hooks.

The look can be continued onto the ceremony by using Bunting and Hanging Lanterns in either your Marquee or Tipi.

Rustic centre pieces such as log slices and decorated jam jars with flowers on the tables bring the outdoors in and are very keeping with the festival theme.


Signage is normally essential at these type of venues, to direct guests to areas such as the ceremony, reception and toilets.  As there is normally a lot of space.  This can be achieved easily using chalkboard signage.

We love vintage barrels, they can be used as podium tables, a vintage bar, a rustic sweetie table or even with flowers on top to create an entrance to the aisle or the venue.  We have these available to hire.  Please contact us for more information.

One of the benefits of having a festival wedding is that you can supply your own drinks.  Use old tin baths or even an old bath as a quirky drinks cooler.

Generally outside lighting is not including due to the rural location of the venue, use fairy lights or festoon lights.  At To Have & To Hire we hire out exterior fairy lights and festoon lights. We can also supply battery packs if access to power is an issue.    You can drape them in trees, use them in your Marquee or Tipi or even use poles in the ground to create a canopy of lights.

Lastly, quirky items can add personality to your event.  Here are some of our favourites, which we can provide:

  • Rehydration Table - Setup a water table for the guests, to stop the unnecessary queuing at the bar for a glass of water.  Two drinks dispensers and a stainless steel bucket along with a sign for your guests.  
  • Glow Stick Station - Comes complete with glow sticks, connectors and a sign for your guests.
  • Sparkler Station - A great focal point for the evening.  We provide you with sparklers with personalised sign, a crate of sand to display them in and a sign for your guests.
  • Dancing Shoes - Flip flops for your guests.
